The Music Binge

No better time to revive #coversunday than on a Sunday… RIGHT?! The Binge enjoyed a great weekend here in the Chi, the weather was much nicer than initially expected. You can bet we celebrated by enjoying some amazing music. Much like this track… It OOZES musical talent.

Atlas Genius are three Aussies and an Englishman, known best for their song ‘Trojans’. The vocals are muted, nearly sad, and are juxtaposed nicely on top of an upbeat sound. They are one to watch as the Next Big Sound noted.

What is Bossa Nova Dream Pop? We’re not really sure either but it sounds pretty fantastic. They hail from Oakland and have an indie electronic sound worth checking out.

#finallyfriday! YEAH BOI YEAH! Nothing to say, except that it’s FRAIDHAY! I had lost some faith in Afrojack, being a pop star and all, but this track shows that he still has some skills. Created for the album’s 25th anniversary. Great jam to blast this weekend!

Bad: TSIS

Chateaubriand (also the name of a VERY flavorful cut of beef, the best part many would debate) takes the best part of Bibio’s Lovers’ Carvings and creates a jam that will probably be on repeat for us this summer. Enjoy a sample that will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Ellie Goulding puts out one the best covers we have seen from her yet. The original is a phenomenal track… But given the reigns, Xaphoon Jones takes us down a path I assure you is quite amazing as well. Enjoy this beauty.

TWO POINT OH. “Leaked” a couple months ago and, like the original, made waves in the Hip Hop world. I mean… Just listen for who is on it! It samples a classic (prize to the person that guesses it the quickest) and is host to some very hot flow.

Summer is approaching and it’s getting HOT. Diplo’s recent track matches the weather perfectly by being both upbeat and hot. Get pumped for the new album off his label, Mad Decent, released June 12th.

Everyone freak out, Yeasayer are out with new music (and it’s been a while since their 2010 releases). They’ve been an underrated band in the past and are back with force. The song is delicious and stay true to their sound.

Leah is a perfect example of how the music industry has evolved over time. Leah rose to “internet fame” by posting covers of songs on YouTube. She was discovered by the talented Pharrell and the rest is history. This is her first single and it’s a touch pop-y… But ENJOY!

We’ve now listened to this song approximately eleventy billion times already, and you can pretty much reblog this song without listening to it. A running theme with the band seems to be songs about forbidden love and cravings. Be sure to check out their Daft Punk esque video.
